It is a great honor, but also a great responsibility, to write as a Britcham representative in Rio Grande do Sul, as an organization such as this, which is so important to the business community, only reaches its 100th anniversary if it really makes a difference to the companies it supports.

Working on behalf of the Association – whose goal is to increase business ties between Brazil and the UK - is no easy task. However, if we focus strategically I believe we can continue making a difference as Britcham is the only Chamber of Commerce in the country that is recognized by both the Brazilian and UK governments.

From the standpoint of a branch from southern Brazil, more specifically Rio Grande do Sul, being a member is a great opportunity to get involved with and drive the debate on regional issues affecting both countries, as well as to support bilateral trade and investment between small and medium size companies in the region.

As a gaucho, I believe Rio Grande do Sul should play an important role in Britcham and in Brazil.

My objectives for next year, and those of my regional members, will be to offer members information, content and business opportunities via events, publications and themed discussion groups.

I usually tell people that a strong association is one built on the efforts of all its members and not just one or two people.
