The Magazine is distributed free of charge at Britcham events
As part of its mission to promote business and governmental relations between Brazil and the United Kingdom, Britcham is proud to present to its members and members of the Brazilian-United Kingdom community the 2025 edition of Britain Brasil Magazine, which highlights Britcham and its members’ achievements and accomplishments during the past year.
In this edition, we are pleased to include contributions and insights from the British Ambassador to Brazil, Ms. Stephanie Al-Qaq CMG, as well as the British Consuls-General in São Paulo, Mr. Jonathan Knott CMG, and in Rio de Janeiro, Mr. Anjoum Noorani, while also featuring contributions from the British Honorary Consul in Paraná, Mr. Adam Patterson, and the new Head of the British Consulate in Minas Gerais, Ms. Laura Queiroz. The conversation focused on trade and investment relations between Brazil and the United Kingdom, as well as the strong partnership between Britcham and the British ambassadors in Brazil.
Britcham’s President, Mr. Fabio Caldas, offers general comments and his perspective on the Chamber’s achievements and accomplishments in 2024. The year was marked by increased in-person events and a robust advocacy agenda that added value to the organisation.
The magazine highlights Britcham’s major initiatives, including the GBBC meetings (Great British Business Club), which were intensified and held for the first time at the Minas Gerais branch. In 2024, the International Energy Seminar will mark its 20th anniversary, bringing together key industry players at Casa G20 in Rio de Janeiro. In-person and virtual events organised by the Thematic Committees. Additionally, the 8th edition of “Doing Business in Brazil,” led by the Legal, Tax & Regulatory Committee. In 2024, Ms. Daniela Barone Soares OBE was awarded the “Britcham Personality of the Year” award. Several ESG-focused initiatives were recognised by member companies during the “ESG Brazil-UK Connection” dinner.
This edition also highlights the significant participation and continuous efforts of an elite team of individuals. As part of this team, there are five governing bodies: the Board of Directors, the Executive Committees, the Thematic Committees, the Advocacy Advisory Committee (CCA) and the executive team. Their efforts extend not only to 2024 but also to 2025, a year featuring significant milestones, that include the celebration of 200 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Brazil hosting the 30th UN Conference on Climate Change (Belém-PA), and Britcham’s renewed role in organizing business missions to the United Kingdom, which will become a more regular occurrence in the future.
The Presidents and Regional Directors of Britcham’s branches also provide valuable input regarding regional development relating to members’ business operations. Thematic Committee leaders discuss how sector-oriented groups will create value for members in the future.
A section of the publication focuses on Britcham’s initiatives aimed at improving the business environment. It emphasizes Britcham’s advocacy and government relations activities regarding tax, climate and regulatory issues. A key component of this work is the coordination of Britcham’s Advocacy Advisory Committee (CCA), led by Dr. Luiz Guilherme Primos, and actively supported by other members of the CCA. This edition also contains contributions from experts on key issues relating to the bilateral relations between Brazil and the United Kingdom, and an exclusive interview with Ana Sanches, President of Anglo American in Brazil.
We would also like to welcome new members who have joined Britcham since our last publication. All members are listed by their products and services offered, alongside individual members.
