Meeting of the Energy Committee and Environment & Sustainability Committee, with Elina Teplinsky (International Energy Lawyer)
Rio de Janeiro, 08 February 2024
The decarbonisation of the economy generates business opportunities and expansion of projects involving clean energy matrices. This is the case with nuclear power plants. The topic was the center of a discussion jointly promoted by the Energy and Environment & Sustainability committees of the British Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Brazil (Britcham). Lawyer Elina Teplinsky, an expert in cross-border hydrogen projects and energy transition, analysed the results of COP28. In her view, it is possible to advance beyond the current level. The real projects we need aren't happening yet. Emissions of polluting gases are increasing rather than decreasing. It's been 28 years that countries have come together and we're not making progress, she said.
