Britain Brasil Magazine 2026
It gives the British Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Brazil (Britcham) great pleasure to unveil the Britain Brasil 2026 Magazine to its members and the wider Brazil-United Kingdom business and government relations community. This edition chronicles the significant milestones and successes of both Britcham and its Members throughout 2025 and into the opening months of the current year.
This edition features contributions and insights from His Majesty’s Ambassador to Brazil, Ms. Stephanie Al-Qaq CMG, as well as the British Consuls-General in São Paulo, Mr. Jonathan Knott CMG, and Rio de Janeiro, Mr. Anjoum Noorani, in addition to the British Honorary Consul in Paraná, Mr. Adam Patterson, and the Executive Board of the British Consulate in Minas Gerais, Ms. Laura Queiroz, regarding the trade and investment landscape between Brazil and the United Kingdom, as well as the robust partnership between Britcham and the British diplomatic corps in Brazil, underscoring concerted efforts to enhance the bilateral business environment whilst providing a regional focus on the states where Britcham maintains branches: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, and Paraná.
The President of Britcham, Mr. Fabio Caldas, provides an overview of the Chamber’s achievements and accomplishments during his tenure, particularly throughout 2025, a year defined by the intensification of in-person events and the execution of a robust, value-driven advocacy agenda. This included, among several key initiatives, a trade mission to London involving numerous members as well as representatives from the British Government, the State Government of São Paulo, Invest São Paulo, and the State Governments of Rio de Janeiro and Pernambuco, alongside SEBRAE-MS and other entities. By convening over 90 participants in the British capital, the mission successfully advanced Britcham’s mission to foster trade, industry, services, investment, and bilateral relations between Brazil and the United Kingdom. On this occasion, Britcham launched the physical version of the 8th edition of “Doing Business in Brazil”, a specialised guide on Brazilian legislation for foreign investors with interests in the country, a publication led by the Legal, Tax & Regulatory Committee. The President also comments on the work performed by the Advocacy Consultative Commission (CCA) regarding its activities related to Bill 1087/2025, specifically concerning the taxation of dividends remitted abroad. Furthermore, he addresses Britcham’s ongoing efforts towards the ratification of the Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) by Brazil; while the agreement already carries the force of law in the United Kingdom, it still requires ratification by the Brazilian National Congress.
The Magazine provides information on Britcham’s primary initiatives, including the 21st edition of the International Energy Seminar, held at the Palácio Guanabara auditorium in Rio de Janeiro, which brought together major industry players; the “Britcham Luncheons,” featuring prominent speakers from the public and private sectors; in-person and virtual events led by the Thematic Committees, all of which saw active engagement from members and various representatives of the British and Brazilian governments; and the “Britcham Personality of the Year” award, presented in 2025 to Ms. Ana Sanches (Anglo American); the “Brazil-UK ESG Connection” dinner, where member companies were recognised for their climate-focused actions in alignment with the upcoming COP30 in Brazil, alongside numerous other significant achievements by Britcham throughout the year, gathering a distinguished and high-level audience from both public and private spheres.
This edition also highlights the significant involvement and continuous effort of a high-level team comprising the Administrative Council, the National Executive Committee, the Regional Executive Committees, the Thematic Committees, the Advocacy Consultative Commission (CCA), and the executive team, all united in favour of the development and growth of the British Chamber and its members, not only in 2025, but also in 2026 and beyond.
The Presidents and Regional Directors of Britcham Branches also provide their important contributions regarding regional development with a focus on members’ businesses, just as the leaders of the Thematic Committees present perspectives for action and value generation for members through sectoral groups in the coming years, aiming for the increasingly consistent engagement of members in Chamber activities, including the intensification of in-person gatherings.
A key highlight of this publication is Britcham’s work in refining the business environment. It details our proactive government relations strategy, addressing vital fiscal, environmental, and regulatory matters under the expert oversight of the Advocacy Consultative Commission (CCA), led by Dr. Luiz Guilherme Primos and comprising other members who actively contribute to the agendas and proceedings. Complementing this is a series of expert contributions addressing themes central to UK-Brazil bilateral relations. The edition also features an exclusive interview with Mr. Paulo Santos, Regional Chief Operating Officer at ERM, who provides critical insights into the delivery of COP30 in Brazil, reflecting on the progress, challenges, and opportunities arising from the summit’s agenda.
Finally, this edition extends a warm welcome to the new members who have joined the Chamber since our last issue. It also features a comprehensive membership directory, categorised by product and service offering, alongside a listing of our individual members.
We therefore invite you to enjoy this edition of Britain Brasil Magazine, and to explore the achievements of an institution that, in 2026, marks 110 years of presence in Brazil, a milestone we look forward to celebrating together.
Finally, we wish to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed to this edition, and most notably to our advertisers, whose support was instrumental in bringing this publication to fruition.
