The Magazine is distributed free of charge at Britcham events
The British Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Brazil – Britcham is proud to present its members and the wider Brazil-UK business and government relations community with the Britain Brasil Magazine 2024. The magazine presents some of Britcham’s and its members’ achievements in 2023.
This edition includes important views and contributions from the UK’s new ambassador in Brazil, Mrs. Stephanie Al-Qaq CMG, the British Consuls General in São Paulo, Mr. Jonathan Knott, and Rio de Janeiro, Mr. Anjoum Noorani, as well as the Honorary British Consul in Paraná, Mr. Adam Patterson, and the new head of the British Consulate in Minas Gerais, Mrs. Maria Bueno, in which they discuss bilateral trade and investment between Brazil and the UK and Britcham’s strong partnership with the British diplomatic corps in Brazil as they strive to improve the bilateral business landscape.
Britcham president at the time Ana Paula Vitelli offers her views on the British Chamber’s achievements and successes in 2023, a year when in-person events became more frequent at Britcham – especially the return of the GBBC (Great British Business Club) rounds. Online events were maintained and improved. All these events garnered the support and engagement of Britcham’s Members and a wide array of representatives from the British and Brazilian governments.
The publication also notes the importance of Britcham’s very highly qualified team that includes the Board of Directors, the Executive Committees, the Thematic Committees, the Advocacy Consultative Commission (CCA) and the executive team, who continue to spare no effort. Everyone worked together to support the growth and development of the British Chamber and its Members.
The Magazine highlights one of the results of this joint effort, the 19th edition of the Britcham Energy Seminar that attracted many from across the industry to an in-person meeting in Rio de Janeiro. Another highlight was the in-person dinner held in Rio de Janeiro for Britcham’s 2023 Personality of the Year. The award was given to the UK Ambassador in Brazil, Mrs. Stephanie Al-Qaq CMG, the first woman King Charles III appointed to the role since Brazil and the UK first began diplomatic relations. The award was presented at a ceremony attended by various British and Brazilian officials and Britcham members and partners. The Magazine also notes the “Brazil-UK ESG Connection” dinner in São Paulo, with honorable mentions for Britcham members companies for their environmental, social and governance initiatives.
The Regional Presidents and Officers of the Britcham Affiliates also made significant contributions to regional development, especially to members businesses, and the teams leading the Thematic Committees produced insights to assist and create value for members via sector groups, which are expected to increase members’ engagement with the Chamber’s activities over the next several years and increase the number of in-person events.
The Magazine includes an unmissable section focusing on Britcham’s initiatives to improve the business environment, especially its advocacy and government relations agenda addressing a number of tax, climate and regulatory issues, all of which are organised with assistance from the Britcham Advocacy Consultative Commission (CCA). It also notes the contributions from specialist members on major issues for bilateral Brazil-UK relations and includes an exclusive interview with Adriano Merigli, president of JCB, who discusses the company’s history and its pioneering role developing hydrogen-powered construction and farm machinery worldwide, as well as other major company initiatives.
In this edition, we will also be welcoming the new members who have joined the British Chamber since our previous publication. The Magazine also includes a list of corporate members classified by the products and services they offer and individual members.
We would like to invite you, our readers, to enjoy this edition of the Brazil Britain Magazine, find out more about the organizations results and achievements over the past century and more; please don’t miss the events section, which contains images of our initiatives.
We would once again like to thank everybody who has directly or indirectly contributed to producing this Magazine, especially our advertisers, who have made this project possible and helped make this publication happen.
